Indian politicians make some really dumb statements every now and then, almost prompting you to think that they were high when they made those statements. I decided to have some fun with some of these epic lines. This is a collection of what they actually said v/s what they actually meant, assuming that their statements were originally meant to have a strong connection with alcohol, but they couldn’t say it publicly, for obvious reasons.
Nitish Kumar
Nitish ji, I think this was the most obvious give away. Kaala Dhan = Black Label, oh yeah!
Yogi Adityanath
This was another no-brainer to decode. Both Surya Namaskar and Desi Daaru have been passed on through generations and travelled down generations to be relevant even today. Gotcha Yogi ji!
Kiran Bedi
This was a little hard to crack, because of its distant connection, but there is a connection nonetheless. Kiran Bedi couldn’t muster up the courage to publicly say that United Breweries (makers of Kingfisher & Royal Challenge) has kept us as a nation united, so she conveniently replaced the organization with RSS. Mallya also received the support of BJP in his political career. Get it now, get it?
Rahul Gandhi
Ah, another piece of cake. Port wine is universally seen as a poor man’s wine, and so our youth icon politician used a very obvious code word to conceal what he really wanted to say. Too easy, Rahul. Too easy.
Manohar Lal Khattar
Clearly, Manohar Ji was referring to the annual Kingfisher calendar here, when he made this bizarre statement. Duh!
