‘Whiskey! The Show’ To Hold Australia’s First Virtual Whiskey Festival

Whiskey! The Show is a Melbourne-based annual event that celebrates the best of Bourbon, Rye and American and Canadian whiskies in Australia. The event would see over 12 exhibitors, 20 brands and 50 whiskies on the ground. Attendees could buy the tickets and attend the event to sample different whiskies and make bottle purchases according to their palate preferences.

This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organisers have had to cancel many spirit events and festivals around the world but the management team of Whiskey! The Show has found a unique way to carry on its annual event. The on-ground festival will be replaced with a virtual event, allowing attendees and exhibitioners to interact, sample the spirit and make purchases from the comfort of their homes.

Marketed as The Virtual Whiskey Show, attendees can purchase tickets for a price of $75 and attend the virtual event on 18th April of this year. The ticket holders will be sent a box holding 10 ml sample collections of the whiskeys that were originally going to be exhibited at the event grounds. These samples would include interesting expressions from Woodford Reserve, Booker’s, Legent, Wild Turkey, Old Forester, Koval, Millstone and Shelter Point amongst others.

The ticket holders can share their thoughts on the whiskey samples via the event’s official application that they will be required to download to be a part of Australia’s first-ever virtual whiskey festival. After tasting the samples, the attendees can purchase the whiskey bottles through the same app.

While anyone interested in attending the virtual whiskey festival can buy the ticket, there are only 250 tickets available for sale. One is permitted to buy more than one ticket and will receive the sample boxes accordingly – one sample box for one ticket!

Interesting, isn’t it? I am very much interested in seeing how enthusiasts respond to a virtual whiskey festival. The success of this fest can pave a way for many to come in the industry.
