India’s whisky market has spent the last few years aggressively expanding beyond Scotch, bourbon, and Indian single malts. Consumers today are becoming increasingly open to exploring newer whisky-producing regions, especially as the premium drinking culture continues evolving across the country. Now, India has officially welcomed its first Australian whisky brand through the launch of Glandore Whisky.
Imported by Basil Alliance Services Pvt Ltd, Glandore marks the entry of Australian whisky into the Indian alco-bev market at a time when consumers are actively looking for newer flavor profiles and global whisky experiences. The launch also reflects how rapidly India’s premium spirits landscape is diversifying beyond traditional whisky categories.

Glandore is a blended and barrel-matured Australian whisky designed specifically to suit Indian consumer preferences. The whisky combines Victorian grain and Australian water while focusing on a richer and smoother profile aimed at premium but approachable consumption. Basil Alliance has positioned the brand around the idea of “Australian Soul, Indian Heart.”
The whisky is primarily aged in ex-bourbon American oak casks to develop sweetness and vanilla notes before being finished in Australian Chardonnay wine casks. This additional wine cask maturation introduces fruity depth and a softer finish that helps differentiate it from more traditional whisky styles available in India.
Glandore opens with aromas of honeycomb and vanilla before moving into caramel, ripe stone fruits, and warming oak characteristics. The overall profile is positioned as smooth, accessible, and easy-drinking for both newer and experienced whisky consumers.

The introduction of Glandore is significant as it introduces an entirely new whisky-producing region to Indian consumers. While India already has strong exposure to Scotch whisky, Irish whiskey, bourbon, Japanese whisky, and Indian single malts, Australian whisky has remained largely absent from the market until now.
Basil Alliance itself describes Glandore as a category-launching product rather than simply another imported whisky label. The company has emphasized the “pioneer” positioning heavily because Glandore has become the first Australian whisky brand to formally establish itself within India’s retail and hospitality ecosystem.
The launch also arrives during a period when Indian consumers are increasingly gravitating toward premium and globally differentiated spirits. The rise of Indian single malts, imported whiskies, and premium cocktail culture has created a consumer base that is far more experimental than before.

Founded in 2021 by Vibhuti Dixit, Basil Alliance has been focusing on importing and building premium alco-bev brands for the Indian market. The company already works with Australian wines, Ready-To-Drink beverages, and gin labels while steadily expanding distribution across multiple Indian states.
Glandore was launched in Uttar Pradesh, with Haryana and New Delhi identified as immediate expansion markets. Basil Alliance has stated that the whisky is being positioned as a premium but volume-driven product aimed at high-end retail and upscale dining spaces. The company’s broader focuses on introducing international alcohol categories that remain relatively untapped within India’s alco-bev landscape.

Glandore has been launched within the affordable premium whisky segment, with retail pricing reportedly ranging between INR 1,400 and INR 1,900 for a 750ml bottle, depending on the market and state taxation. This positions the whisky directly against premium Indian whiskies, imported blends, and entry-level single malts that are becoming increasingly popular among urban consumers. Instead of targeting luxury collectors, Glandore appears focused on premium drinkers looking to explore newer international whisky experiences without entering extremely expensive price brackets.

Australian whisky has been gaining global attention because of its experimental maturation techniques, climate-driven aging, and modern approach to production. Unlike more traditional whisky regions, Australian distilleries often explore unique cask finishes and blending styles that create more distinctive flavor profiles. India’s increasingly experimental whisky audience makes it a strong market for these newer global whisky identities, especially as consumers become more open to trying unfamiliar whisky regions with premium positioning. In many ways, Glandore’s launch is not just about introducing a new whisky brand, but also about bringing Australian whisky into India’s mainstream alco-bev conversation for the first time.

Glandore’s arrival marks an interesting moment within India’s rapidly evolving whisky market. As Indian consumers continue moving toward premium and globally diverse spirits, the launch of the country’s first Australian whisky reflects how much broader the alco-bev landscape has become.
With smooth, approachable flavors, wine-cask finishing, and a strong premium positioning, Glandore enters India at a time when consumers are actively searching for newer whisky experiences beyond traditional categories.
