Late Checkout: A Cocktail Bar In A 1970s Mill
As you make your way through the lanes of the Mathuradas Mills Compound, a golf cart will drop you off at Late Checkout. This already makes it seem like a whimsical adventure in the bustling city lanes of Mumbai. As you enter the space, the weathered brick facade will remind you of the place’s history as a mill compound in the 70s.
This late-night bar is the tenth venture by Chrome Hospitality – co-founded by Pawan Shahri and Nikita Harisinghani. The duo has also brought many other restaurants in Mumbai to life, including the likes of Gigi, Kaia Goa, Eve, and Lyla.
The venue features high ceilings, elegant chandeliers, and exposed brick that reflect an industrial chic decor style. With large skylights and a mix of wood and brick elements, it resembles a mountain chalet right in the heart of Mumbai. The interior is tastefully decorated, drawing inspiration from Wes Anderson’s films, omakase bars, and mountain lodges. You’ll likely find it hard to resist taking some pictures of the space before diving into the drinks and food.

Food And Drinks At Late Checkout
Chef Amit Dhoundiyal curates a menu that effortlessly adds his spin to global flavors, emphasizing more on Pan-Asian dining. However, he does not go the usual route and innovates the concept of Pan-Asian bites, ultimately elevating your dining experience. To begin with, you have the Smoked Tuna Carpaccio, the French Onion Tempura, Kabocha Chilli Prawns, Cured Aged Tartare, and the Crab Rangoon Dip as some of the standout dishes.
We certainly loved the Goat Cheese Capperino Tarts and the Charred Corn Ravioli – they simply melted in our mouth! For our last dish, we tried the Truffle Brie Bao Buns and we certainly didn’t get disappointed.
In terms of cocktails, we tried the Breakfast In Bed, a soft pink tequila drink with the frothiest foam floating on top. It was softened with pandan and coconut water and then topped with peach Aperol foam – truly irresistible! Also, we highly recommend checking out Old Me, a delightful mango cocktail just perfect to combat the summer heat. While you are there, don’t forget to try their Missing Trust Fund – a crafty cocktail combining mushroom bitters, truffle oil, and Scotch.

For desserts, we went ahead with the Warm Chocolate Tart, filled with decadent gooey chocolate – simply delicious! We also recommend trying their artisanal gelatos – especially the Cheese and Jalapeno Gelato. Overall, the dining experience is nothing short of luxurious as you savor gourmet food combining local and global flavors.
