Maison Ferrand-Owned Planteray Rum Launches Legends Of Rum Collection

Planteray Rum, owned by Maison Ferrand, has announced the launch of a new limited-edition collection. The limited-edition collection will pay tribute to the people who have shaped the brand’s rum journey since its creation in 1999.

The new collection has been titled Planteray Rum Extreme Series VI: Legends of Rum. Let’s take a look at the new launch.

Comprised Of Six Rums

Planteray Rum Extreme Series VI: Legends of Rum is said to be a collection that is not only built on rarity but also on the transmission of knowledge, values, and respect between rum-makers. It is comprised of six rums from Haiti, Barbados, Fiji, Jamaica, Belize, and Saint Lucia. The rum is released only once every two to three years and the Extreme Series showcases some of Planteray Rum’s rarest expressions.

Across the Caribbean and beyond, each distillery has its own language of rum-making. The six-rum collection includes Haiti 2009, honoring Thierry Gardère of Rhum Barbancourt; Barbados D.A.S.H., celebrating Henderson “Digger” Skinner and his family's decades-long contribution to West Indies Rum Distillery; Fiji Islands 2007, recognizing Soneel Raj, Mike Spencer and the Rum Co. of Fiji team; Jamaica MMW 1998, paying tribute to Vivian Wisdom and Clarendon Distillery’s renowned high-ester rum-making tradition; Belize 2006, dedicated to Romel Perdomo and his family’s legacy; and Saint Lucia 2009, a personal homage to the late Laurie Barnard, whose mentorship played a significant role in shaping Planteray Rum’s philosophy.

Collection Built On Knowledge, Heritage, And Mutual Respect

The collection is built on the transfer of knowledge, heritage, and mutual respect between generations of rum makers rather than rarity alone. Each expression is drawn from a single ‘unicorn barrel’ and bottled directly from the cask at natural strength, without dilution. This helps preserve the character of its origin.

The limited collection reflects more than three decades of exploration by Alexandre Gabriel, Owner and Master Blender of Planteray Rum. He has traveled extensively across the Caribbean and other rum-producing regions. Working closely with local distillers, he has understood the traditions and techniques as well as the cultural heritage that defines each style of rum.

Each bottling will be available in limited quantities, ranging from 462 to 960 bottles worldwide. It will be available from selected retailers across Europe, the United States (US), and Barbados.
