I am an amazing friend. No really, I make sacrifices for my friends all the time just to keep them happy. Why else would I, one evening, land up in the ugh-burb of Andheri on a weekday?
Waterworks in the ‘Burbs
So my buddies were drinking up at a pub called TAP in Andheri West. Well, thank god for that; Andheri east would have been the last straw. It was in that building which houses tons of pubs and restaurants, and I don’t blame you if you don’t know which one I’m talking about because they all fucking seem the same.
As soon as I entered, I almost walked out. IT WAS THAT LOUD. Instead, I found my friends and convinced them that sitting amidst such decibel levels was not just daft, but also very wannabe.
A few words with the manager got us a great table outside. Pick the heat over the noise any day is my suggestion. Also it’s sorta a sports bar, so the outside area is anytime more exciting with the most popular game of the day playing on the screens.
Also, different themes for restaurants seem to be so yesterday – this place has different menus and prices for different days! And yes, as you might have guessed, the weekend is the expensive one. Tough luck, freeloaders!
The crowd was what I expected – typical suburban crowd getting excited over a silly old pool table. We got high and decided to give the dance floor inside another try – but NO. This was just not meant to be. We enter for the second time and apparently we traveled back in time because… smoke machines! And as if that was not enough – strobe lights. Like, seriously?
The next thing TAP had to offer us was a treasure hunt – because finding the washroom was as tricky as that. Imagine my disgust when I learned that to reach the treasure I had to walk through what seems like another restaurant altogether with families giving me the well-rehearsed judgmental look! No sirree!
Time for me to return to my wine, brought up from our cellar to my terraced bed-room. Thank god for civilization. Cheerio!
