Since Telangana’s formation, it's the first time that the Telangana excise department has finally opened doors for microbreweries. The Prohibition and Excise Department of Telangana has announced the launch of its new Microbrewery-25 policy. This policy is paving the way for the establishment of new microbreweries. Here’s more about the policy and applications.
Interested individuals and establishments can now finally set up a microbrewery in Telangana, thanks to the new policy by the excise department. Until now, the establishment of microbreweries was allowed only within the GHMC limits (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation).
Within GHMC and other municipal corporations in Telangana, fresh notices have been issued which are inviting applications for establishing microbreweries. This initiative is expected to allow establishments to set up units and apply for licenses in the Telangana Core Urban Region (TCUR).

TCUR includes Jawaharnagar, Nizampet, Bandalaguda Jagir, Boduppal, Peerzadigudda, Badangpet, and Meerpet. Six municipal corporations, namely Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Adilabad, are also included in this. The submissions are to be made at the Excise Commissioner’s office in Hyderabad
For applicants who are from other municipal corporations in Telangana, the applications must be submitted at the offices of the respective Deputy Commissioners, Prohibition, and Excise. They can submit it during office hours on all working days.
According to this policy, interested individuals and establishments can submit their applications between September 3 to September 25. The last date and time to submit the form for the application is 25th September, 2025, 5 pm IST.
If you are interested, you must fill out Form MB-1A and pay a fee of INR 1 Lakh (non-refundable) for each application for a space of a minimum of 1000 square feet.

Only those applications will be accepted that hold the necessary permission certificates authorized by the relevant departments. This includes establishments that hold licenses like Elite Bar, TO 1, TO 2, 2B Bar, or C1-Club. Establishments that are licensed to serve food, like restaurants or hotels, by local authorities are also eligible to apply.
All the interested establishments and individuals are requested to follow all the rules and guidelines. They must make sure that they fill out the form before the deadline to ensure they are considered for the prior clearance.
