First Wine Tourism Initiative

Uttarakhand, renowned for its tranquil hill stations and revered as one of India’s most sacred regions – home to Kedarnath, Badrinath, and other significant places of worship, is set to introduce something unique. The state is launching its first wine tourism initiative, with a new wine production unit established in Kotdwar. This unit will produce 1,000 cases of wine, creating an attractive destination for wine lovers.

Wine tourism offers the experience of visiting vineyards and wineries to learn about wine production and enjoy tastings. And at the Kotdwar wine production facility, visitors will be treated to an informative and engaging experience. They can explore the history of wine-making, witness the production process firsthand, and taste a variety of wines. Uttarakhand’s wine production initiative will prioritize the use of locally sourced fruits, such as malta, apples, buransh flowers, pears, and galgal.
