Drum rolls, please! We have a new cocktail champion
In a thrilling competition between seven bartenders to fix their best signature cocktail at the eastern regional finals of World Class India 2018, a nationwide bartending competition powered by Diageo, Rahul Sandilya Tiwari from The Oberoi Grand emerged the winner. Held at Gold, the party den at JW Marriott Kolkata, the event was judged by Diageo reserve ambassadors of east, south and north. Mr Tiwari will now represent the east in the national finals set to take place in Delhi next month.

Snoop Dogg mixes the biggest gin and juice in the world
Making music lovers and booze lovers equally ecstatic, ‘Gin & Juice’ rapper Snoop Dogg just earned a Guinness World Record for the largest “paradise cocktail” ever mixed. As per Mercury News, in total, thin gin and juice drink was 550 litres or about 145 gallons. Talk about taking a pun too far!
A delicious beer, brewed from sewage water
In an attempt to ensure sustainability and recycling, Swedish brewery Nya Carnegiebryggeriet, Carlsberg, and the Swedish Environmental (IVL) have created a new pilsner that is brewed with recycled wastewater. Ironically enough, it’s called PU:REST, and it’s a humble effort to raise awareness for sustainable, safe drinking water. Intriguing!
A book for cocktails and postcards
Renowned writers Diane Lapis and Anne Peck-Davis bring together their appreciation for classic cocktails and vintage 1930s and 1940s colourful linen postcards in their latest book “Cocktails Across America.” It features the Ramos Gin Fizz, Salty Dog, Sonja’s Sun Valley Sunrise, Palm Beach Special, Tequila Sunrise and the Daiquiri: E.
