Amrut Distilleries Climb Up On “World’s Most Admired Whiskies 2025” List

In 2023, Amrut Distilleries was in the 43rd rank of the “World’s Most Admired Whiskies 2023” List. Last year, in 2024, the distillery was on the 40th rank, and now this year, it has climbed up 13 ranks and reached the 27th rank on the list, making everyone proud.

This achievement by Amrut Distilleries, which is based in Bengaluru, is a groundbreaking milestone that cements the brand’s reputation as a top global whisky producer. At the same time, this achievement also highlights the rising popularity of Indian single malt whiskies on a global level.

Securing 27th after ranking 40th and 43rd previously in 2023 and 2024 lists shows the brand’s unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. Amrut’s premium single malts have steadily gained loyalists worldwide, which helped it climb 16 spots in just two years. This has also challenged established whisky-producing nations like Japan and Scotland on quality and complexity.

Michter's, a US-based whiskey brand, has been crowned the World's Most Admired Whisky for the third consecutive year, according to Drinks International's 2025 list. 

This prestigious ranking is determined by votes from over 100 renowned bars' owners, head bartenders, and global experts, who rate whiskies based on factors like marketing effectiveness, quality, consistency, and price-to-quality ratio.

Shining On the Global Level

Amrut Distilleries has been shining at international competitions, such as it secured five gold medals in the International Spirits Challenge 2024. 

Industry leaders see Amrut’s achievement as a key indicator of India’s increasing influence within the premium spirits segment worldwide. Rakshit N Jagdale, Managing Director of Amrut Distilleries, expressed pride over representing India in the Top 30.

Rakshit called it evidence of the country's rapidly increasing reputation in the whisky world. He also stated that with continuous innovation, the brand might soon shine as the global top five.

The brand was established in 1948 by J.N. Radhakrishna Rao Jagdale. The company was launched as Amrut Laboratories, which transitioned into the alcohol business soon after India’s Independence.

Products of Amrut Distilleries 

Amrut’s single malt whisky is made from the six-row barley that is grown in India and sourced from states like Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana. The distillery is located at Kambipura on Mysore Road, which is about 20 kilometers from Bengaluru in Karnataka. 

Amrut Distilleries produces a diverse array of spirits:

  • Single Malt Whiskies: Amrut Indian Single Malt, Amrut Fusion, Amrut Peated, Portonova, and specialty releases such as Amrut Two Continents.
  • Other Whiskies: Prestige, MaQintosh, Blended Malt, and more.
  • Brandy: Bejois (various types), Silver Cup.
  • Rum: Old Port Deluxe, Amrut XXX.
