India is growing and evolving its footprint on a global level in the world of premium spirits, and we are so proud! The Rampur Indian Single Malt Whisky, known for its production site and distinctive flavors, made its debut on the ‘World's 50 Most Admired Whiskies 2025’ list by the UK-based Drinks International Magazine. The drink has made its place in the list where it stands shoulder to shoulder with whisky brand stalwarts from Japan, Ireland, and Scotland. Here’s everything you must know about it!

Rampur Indian Single Malt Debuts On Prestigious Global List

Rampur Indian Single Malt is one of the only two brands that have featured on the list of ‘World’s 50 Most Admired Whiskies 2025’. While Rampur secured its position at the 50th rank, the other Indian brand, Amrut, is ranked 27th. This achievement actually highlights the brand’s successful positioning as a premium single malt whisky. The brand is witnessing a growing international reputation for craftsmanship and quality.

Drinks International Magazine compiled this list based on votes from bar owners, head bartenders, global experts, and trade professionals from over 100 of the world's most renowned bars. These individuals evaluate whiskies based on various factors, including the effectiveness of marketing and branding, the quality of the whisky, its consistency, and the price-to-quality ratio.

The most admired whisky in the world, according to the ‘World’s 50 Most Admired Whiskies 2025’ list, is Mitcher’s from the United States. This rank is followed by two Japanese brands: Yamazaki in second position and Hibiki in third.

The selection of Rampur Indian Single Malt alongside Amrut adds to the growing credibility of India on the global whisky stage.

It is known for being produced in the Himalayan foothills, which helps in the accelerated aging and offers a distinctive flavor profile that features spices and tropical fruit notes. The spirit is known for being a non-chill-filtered, handcrafted whisky. It utilises a variety of cask finishes like European Sherry Cask, American Oak, and Asava.

They are known to offer a diverse range of variations like Asava, PX Sherry Finish, Jugalbandi Series, Trigun, Double Cask, Select, Signature Reserve, and Bareel Blush. Each of these expressions showcases the beauty of Indian whisky-making.

This recognition is a reflection of Rampur’s strategic innovation and relentless dedication to sustainability and authenticity, other than its excellence in whisky-making. These are some of the traits that actually distinguish the brand from its competitors in this highly competitive area.

Rampur Indian Single Malt is available in only 750 ml bottles, and the average starting price for it is approximately ₹7,700 to ₹8,000.

The Rampur Indian Single Malt is crafted by Radico Khaitan Limited in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. Its distillery was established in 1943 and is known to be one of India’s oldest and most respected distilleries.

The distillery is spread across 35 acres of land near the foothills of the Himalayas in Uttar Pradesh. The place has a very unique climate with severe seasonal variations, with scorching summers and freezing winters. This actually helps in accelerating whisky maturation and also brings a singular character to the spirit.

Their primary business in the beginning focused only on making mass-market spirits. In 1996, they began the Rampur single malt operations and began crafting a malt whisky for internal blends.

In the next 20 years, this hidden gem was launched as a standalone brand. Today, it is Uttar Pradesh’s first single malt and a bottled expression of North India’s land. It also has distilleries in Aurangabad and Sitapur as well.

Summing Up

Rampur Indian Single Malt is making India proud on a global level with its dedication, commitment, and strategies. We hope to see more such amazing brands get such recognition on a global level!
