Bodega Suprema No. 5 Brings 100% Agave Tequila to Four More Indian Markets

Bodega Suprema No. 5, a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila from Black Tiger Distilleries is set to expand its reach beyond Mumbai. Launched in August 2026, the brand is looking to bring authentic Mexican tequila to the Indian consumer through a range of three expressions: Blanco, Reposado and Añejo.

The expansion follows a strategic partnership with Tilaknagar Industries which is expected to significantly bolster the brand's distribution across India. Plans for wider availability have been announced but the four additional markets and their respective launch dates have not yet been independently confirmed.

Bodega Suprema No. 5 Expands Beyond Mumbai

A Black Tiger Distilleries brand created to fill the gap between cheap mixto tequilas and premium 100% agave tequilas, which are typically priced very high. The tequila is produced and bottled by Productos Finos de Agave in Jesús María, Jalisco, Mexico. It is 100% Blue Weber agave, and the range has been specifically developed for the Indian market, with the product still made and bottled in Mexico. All three expressions are 38% ABV.

The founder of Black Tiger Distilleries, puts it, the concept behind Bodega Suprema No. 5 was to bring a genuine, well-made tequila to the market at a more accessible premium price point. Going beyond just the Mumbai market would allow the brand to reach consumers in other Indian cities and states.

Bodega Suprema No. 5 Tequila Expressions And Prices

The Bodega Suprema No. 5 range comprises three expressions (Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo), all in 750ml bottles and 50ml formats. Bodega Suprema No. 5 Blanco is an unaged tequila with notes of fresh agave, mint, caramel and roasted pumpkin. It was originally priced at INR 4,200 for a 750ml bottle in Mumbai.

On the other hand, Bodega Suprema No. 5 Reposado is aged for two months in American oak barrels that have previously been used for Tennessee whiskey. This imparts notes of vanilla, caramel, peach, and candied orange. It was launched at INR 4,500 for a 750ml bottle.

Bodega Suprema No. 5 Añejo is aged for a minimum of 12 months in American oak barrels previously used for Tennessee whiskey. The longer maturation results in a more developed spirit with pronounced fruit and oak characteristics. It was originally priced at INR 5,500 for a 750ml bottle. These are the brand's original Mumbai launch prices. Retail prices in other Indian markets will vary due to state-specific alcohol taxes and regulations.

Tilaknagar Industries Supports The Brand's Expansion

Bodega Suprema No 5's expansion plans got a major injection in September 2026 when Tilaknagar Industries announced a INR 22 crore strategic investment in Black Tiger Distilleries. The investment will give Tilaknagar Industries a 30% stake in the company on a fully diluted basis. It will be in two tranches: the first tranche of INR 6 crore has been invested, with the balance of INR 16 crore to be invested within 12 months of the first tranche.

Beyond financial backing, Tilaknagar Industries is expected to bring its expertise in distribution, sales, marketing, and regulatory affairs to support Black Tiger Distilleries. The intent is to help Bodega Suprema No. 5 build up its footprint in the Indian alcohol market.

For Black Tiger Distilleries, this is a chance to bring their tequila ranges to consumers outside Maharashtra, all while keeping production and bottling in Mexico.
