Gamber Valley Introduces Two New Indian Single Malt Whiskies

Gamber Valley has launched two new Indian single malts, Pravah (unpeated) and Tapah (peated). Both are permanent additions to the range and will be available in select Indian markets from November 2026. The whiskies are being launched by Alcobrew Distilleries India Limited.

Made at the company's distillery in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, the two expressions are very much the product of different approaches to flavor, albeit with the same production standards. Both are aged in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 46% ABV.

What Are Gamber Valley Pravah And Tapah?

Pravah and Tapah are two Indian single malts, developed around two very different flavor profiles. Pravah (which means 'flow') is an unpeated expression and Tapah (which means 'inner fire') is the peated one. Both are permanent in the Gamber Valley range.

The whiskies are distilled, matured and bottled in Solan, using Indian malted barley and water with a Himalayan character. Both are matured in ex-bourbon barrels. The company states that production is in accordance with the Indian Malt Whisky Association standards, 100% malted barley, copper pot-still distillation and a minimum of 3 years' maturation in oak casks in India.

Gamber Valley Pravah: Tasting Notes And Characteristics

Gamber Valley Pravah is an unpeated Indian single malt aged in ex-bourbon casks. The tasting notes describe the nose as having layers of malt, gentle vanilla, ripe banana, fresh grassy notes and a very faint whisper of smoke.

On the palate it's a rich malt with a good deal of oak, heather honey and some subtle smokiness. The finish is warm spice, honeyed barley and rich chocolate. It comes in a pale Himalayan blue carton with gold detailing, the design being inspired by the flow of water, the open sky and the stillness of the mountains.

Gamber Valley Tapah: Tasting Notes And Characteristics

Gamber Valley Tapah is a peated Indian single malt offering a smokier alternative to Pravah. It's matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 46% ABV. It's one of the earlier expressions in the nascent category of Himalayan origin peated Indian single malts.

Its aroma is a combination of gentle peat, acacia honey and licorice. The palate is soft smoke, light oils, molasses, warm spice and buttery vanilla with a finish of smoke, vanilla, warm spice and milk chocolate. It's in a matte black carton with gold trim which is a very good match for the peatedness of the spirit.
