Greater Than Gin was officially launched in 2017 after the meticulous efforts of Anand Virmani, Vaibhav Singh, and Aparajita Ninan finally bore fruit. Despite India being the birthplace of the Gin and Tonic and having a rich treasure of some of the most elusive botanicals in the world, the country lacked a craft gin. The trio realized that this needed to be addressed and worked on making a craft gin by themselves.
They received their first copper pot still in 2017 and began operations in Goa. After several trials and errors, the trio was successful in crafting Greater Than Gin, the first craft gin to be born in India.
Just a year later, they released Hapusa – the only gin in the world to be made of Himalayan Juniper! In 2019, they launched their gins in 5 states, including Goa and Karnataka and expanded their business in 10 countries apart from India – with the United Kingdom and Singapore leading the way.
As of 2025, the brand proudly claims that about 900 bottles of Greater Than Gin are consumed every single day in India! Now that is a commendable feat!
