A Japanese Mango Dessert Beer Like No Other

Uchu Brewing: A Brief Overview

The Atom Mango Smoothie Sour is brewed by Uchu Brewing in Japan. The word ‘Uchu’ literally translates to ‘universe’ or ‘cosmos’, and the experience of this mango dessert beer is also no less than otherworldly!

The brewery was founded by Masahiro Kusunose and Rumiko Suzuki in 2017. Since then, Uchu Brewing has carved its niche and built a cult following for their juicy, hazy India Pale Ales (IPAs), eye-catching ad campaigns, and pesticide-free, hand-harvested hop fields. The result is a delicious range of fruit-based beers as well as other innovative brews that are truly irresistible.

Uchu Brewing, inspired by the beer culture of the West Coast (The United States of America), released their first brews in March 2018. Not only does Uchu Brewing grow their hops on site, but also filter and recycle the waste water generated in the beer-making process. With a focus on sustainable practices, Uchu Brewing leaves no stone unturned when it comes to innovative beer.

Japanese Mango Dessert Beer: Taste And Texture Of Atom Mango Smoothie Sour

Pour out the beer, and you’ll be scratching your head.

“Is it a beer or a smoothie?”

Well, the beer takes pride in its innovation – a texture that is beautifully identical to a smoothie. The Atom Mango Smoothie Sour is bright yellow, giving away that the mango is the star ingredient here. It is thick and creamy, allowing you to also see bits of mango pulp swirling around in the glass. The Japanese mango dessert beer has a 5% alcohol content and a light malt base that’s less than 25%. This lets the fruit flavors shine without being overwhelming.

Take in the aroma of the drink – on the nose, it is all ripe mango, a hint of cardamom, and a subtle plum aroma. If that aroma doesn’t entice you already, take a sip of this drink and you’ll realize how rich the experience is. The smooth, silky texture of the drink is similar to yoghurt or a smoothie – except that it isn’t either of them. The drink looks like it could easily serve as a tipsy mango lassi, and the taste justifies this assumption well.

You’ll predominantly get a taste of the juicy mangoes, but the drink also has pineapple juice and rich, white coconut cream that lends a velvety texture. The drink packs a tropical punch in a can with its smooth, citrusy yoghurt base, taking you on a summer adventure!
