Indri by Piccadily Agro Industries Limited needs no introduction – it is one of the most famous and awarded brands in the Indian spirits market. And now, the brand has added another feather to its cap by introducing the Indri Agneya, a lightly peated single malt whisky. This new offering, announced on July 24, 2025, uses indigenous barley over peat smoke to create a lightly smoked spirit guaranteeing a smooth, refined, and sophisticated experience in every sip. Here’s what you need to know about this latest single malt whisky in the Indian market.
The name ‘Agneya’ is a Sanskrit term translating to ‘belonging to fire’. This hints towards its subtle smoky flavor that’s layered over a complex profile built from aging in both Sherry and Bourbon casks. The result? A warm, balanced drink with subtle smoke, spice, and a lingering finish.
Crafted in the village of Indri in Haryana in their flagship 168-acre facility, Indri Agneya uses indigenous six-row barley gently kilned over peat smoke. This creates a lightly smoked spirit unlike the heavily peated Islay-style whiskies. Additionally, the whisky is matured in American oak barrels, including ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks. This maturation lends an extra layer of richness without compromising the taste.
Surrinder Kumar, Master Blender at Piccadily Agro Industries commented, “We wanted to explore the untapped space between the familiar and the unexpected. Agneya introduces a new conversation, a whisky that hints at smoke and spice, while still retaining the warmth and complexity that defines Indri’s house style.”

On the nose, the single malt brings forward notes of nuts and ripe fruit. Whereas, on the palate, you’ll be delighted with a smooth, layered texture that finishes off with a lingering, elegant smoke. This peated profile sets Indri Agneya apart from the earlier flagship Indri Trini that was more fruit-forward and had spice-driven notes.
And if you thought it was only about the taste and aroma of Indri Agneya, wait till you see the majestic packaging and bottle design! The bottle is in black, with the branding and other details elegantly printed on the sleek bottle. Gold details stand out on the pitch-black canvas of the bottle, instantly making you feel like you’ve laid your hands on an ultra-premium experience. With a matching case, the bottle is elegant, sophisticated, and just perfect for gifting someone or adorning your bar cabinet!
Indri Agneya has made its debut in the state of Haryana where it retails for INR 3,800. Soon, the product will make its way to select premium retail outlets across India as well as duty-free stores and global markets. The brand aims to sell about 1 lakh cases in the next 3 years – and even if it sounds aspirational as of now, Indri’s run to global dominance only makes it seem more and more possible!
Piccadily and Indri’s consistent efforts signal towards a commitment to innovation and terroir-driven spirits. More than just a product launch, Indri Agneya is a step towards placing India’s name on the global whisky map. And Indri Agneya is definitely a product that can make it happen.
