Orry Katra Controversy

If you’re active on social media, you must’ve seen countless reels of one influencer who just won’t stop doing the most bizarre and downright hilarious things on the internet. Yes, you guessed it right – it’s Orry! Orhan Awatramani or Orry rose to fame in the past few years for his more than lavish lifestyle, funny antics, and his proximity to some of Bollywood’s most sought-after stars. However, Orry and 7 others got booked on Monday for allegedly consuming alcohol at a Katra Hotel near the Vaishno Devi Shrine. Here’s all that you need to know!

Liquor At The Wrong Place: Orry And 7 Others Booked

On Monday, 17th March 2025, the Jammu & Kashmir Police booked Orry and 7 others at a hotel in Katra. For those who don’t know, Katra serves as the base camp for the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi, one of India’s most renowned Shakti Peethas. The reason for them being booked was the alleged consumption of liquor at the hotel.

The Union Territory administration has prohibited the sale and consumption of alcohol and meat in the town of Katra, owing to its proximity to the holy Vaishno Devi shrine. The town also holds spiritual and religious significance for pilgrims making their way to the shrine. As alcohol and meat are prohibited here, the police booked Orry and 7 others under Section 233 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (formerly, Indian Penal Code). Section 233 is concerned with the disobedience of an order given by a public servant.

Police Actions Against The Accused

SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh instructed the police to nab the defaulters. This is because such incidents cannot happen in the holy town of Katra, especially when warnings are given. Speaking on the Orry controversy, the President of Katra’s Hotel and Restaurant Association, Rakesh Wazir strongly condemned this action. He stated that alcohol and meat are banned in Katra to preserve the sanctity of Mata Vaishno Devi.

Along with Orry, 7 others who were booked were identified to be Parth Raina, Rakshita Bhogal, Ritick Singh, Darshan Singh, Shagun Kohli, Anastasia Arzamaskina, and Rashi Dutta.

As of 18th March 2025, Orry and his trip organizer, Cherry Sin have both gone off the radar. They have also switched off their phones.
