Sector Gin: Making Gin Enjoyable And Approachable, One Sip At A Time

‘Gin’ as a spirit can quickly become complicated, like math equations that fail even if you miss out on a single step. However, not every gin is a complicated affair – some are elegantly effortless, approachable, and unpretentious – take Sector Gin as an example! Launched in 2022 in Goa, this gin brand has quietly become synonymous with quality homegrown gin made for the ‘everyday explorer’. Let’s take a look at what makes Sector Gin so appealing in the homegrown gin market.

Sector Gin: Origin, Process, Botanicals Used, Tasting Notes, Expressions, And More

Origins Of Sector Gin

Living Root Beverages by Bharat Bhagnani is based in Goa and stands behind Sector Gin, along with a roster of other brands. The craft alcohol beverage company unveiled its much-awaited Sector Gin in September 2022 in Goa with the aim of producing a high-quality gin.

Sector Gin is a London Dry gin, one of the most common styles of gin. However, it does not play by the traditional playbook of London Dry gins!

While most gins in this style have juniper as the predominant ingredient, followed by coriander and other botanicals, Sector Gin uses botanicals used in a typical London Dry but also uses a host of other atypical and unique botanicals (we’ll get there in a hot minute).

How Is Sector Gin Made

Sector Gin breaks conventional barriers of gin production to produce an exceptional end-product. It slow-distills its gin in the coastal state of Goa, where the base gin and the citrus distillate are produced separately and then blended to create magic in each sip.

A specialty of the gin is how the citrus distillate uses whole fruits instead of peels. The juice from the citrus fruits cuts out the bitterness and lends a soft mouthfeel unlike many gins that leave you with a ‘dehydrating’ experience.

Botanicals Used In Creating Sector London Dry Gin

The Sector London Dry Gin uses an exquisite blend of 11 botanicals, with each of them being carefully selected from across India and the world. The gin uses the following botanicals:

  • Juniper berries
  • Cubeb berries
  • Valencia oranges
  • Orris root
  • Lemon balm
  • Grapefruit
  • Turmeric
  • Cochin ginger
  • Bijapur lemon
  • Yellow coriander
  • Angelica root

With a mix of typical and atypical botanicals, the gin largely remains a juniper and citrus-forward gin.

Tasting Notes Of Sector London Dry Gin

With a clear appearance, the Sector London Dry Gin has a fresh and vibrant aroma. It has a pronounced juniper aroma that is complemented by citrus, coriander, and subtle floral notes.

The gin has a smooth, silky texture that opens with bold juniper and lemon on the palate, followed by a bright citrus explosion. It carries subtle hints of turmeric and ginger as well on the palate.

The gin ends with a clean and crisp finish, with a refreshing burst of botanicals. The finish is light and spicy, thanks to cubeb berries. It is then rounded off by a gentle sweetness from ginger and lemon balm.
