Produced by Sula Vineyards in the Nashik Valley, Maharashtra, this wine is one of India’s best-selling red wines. But what makes Sula Shiraz Cabernet a favorite among the people? Let’s explore!

Sula Shiraz Cabernet: Rich and Red

Sula Shiraz Cabernet is a well-known Indian red wine produced at the renowned Sula Vineyards in Nashik, Maharashtra. This wine features a harmonious blend of two grape varieties: Shiraz (also known as Syrah) and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is appreciated for its distinct, rich, and velvety taste profile, which beautifully combines dark fruit flavors with hints of spice.

Sula Shiraz Cabernet History and Background

The history of Sula Shiraz Cabernet is actually intertwined with that of Sula Vineyards. This is because Sula Shiraz Cabernet is the flagship red wine, which was launched by the vineyard.

This wine came into existence with Rajeev Samant's (founder of Sula Vineyards) vision to create India’s signature wines by blending international winemaking knowledge with local terroir.  The wine blends the spicy, ripe character of Shiraz (Syrah) with Cabernet Sauvignon, which is known for its structure.

This approachable, full-bodied red earned recognition for its quality, versatility, and food-friendliness. This helped in popularizing wine consumption across India and made it one of the nation’s best-selling red wines. Sula Shiraz Cabernet’s success helped raise the profile of Indian wines domestically and internationally.

Sula Shiraz Cabernet Taste & Texture

This Indian red wine is celebrated for its full-bodied and silky texture, showcasing a harmonious blend of flavors. It features the best characteristics of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The wine exhibits a deep red-purple hue and offers enticing aromas of dark fruits such as black plum, ripe cherry, blackberry, and cassis. Additionally, there are hints of clover, mocha, and black pepper.

On the palate, this wine is layered and plush, with flavors of black currant and dark chocolate. Its earthy and velvety texture provides elegance and richness without being overwhelming. Notes of coffee and gentle spices add to its complexity, ensuring that each sip is memorable. The finish is long and smooth and leaves subtle hints of fruit and spice. This makes it an exceptionally food-friendly wine, capable of complementing a wide range of dishes, from grilled meats to aged cheeses and spicy Indian cuisine.
