DesmondJi is a renowned Indian brand of liquors and spirits, which was founded by Desmond Nazareth. This brand is the result of an IIT Madras Alumnus turning his passion for liquor into a craft distillery enterprise in India.
DesmondJi 100% Agave is India's first premium agave-based spirit, launched in April 2011 in Goa. It is made from 100% blue-green agave plants grown on India's Deccan Plateau in a semi-arid micro-climate similar to Central America, ideal for agave cultivation. The spirit is distilled in small batch pot-stills at a micro-distillery located in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.
It belongs to the family of Agave-based spirits but is different from Mexican Tequila, which has the geographical indication (GI) tag. It is a unique Indian take on agave spirits, which is ruled by mezcal and tequila.

This spirit is bottled at 40% ABV (alcohol by volume) and is available only in 750 ml bottles. It was first rolled out in major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Pondicherry, and Daman in 2012, and then to Pune, Bangalore, and other cities.
