Johnnie Walker has launched Johnnie Walker Vault, its first permanent prestige blended Scotch whisky, as part of its expansion of the luxury portfolio. The new expression was announced on 14th October 2026 and was crafted by Master Blender Dr Emma Walker using some of the rarest whiskies available from Scotland's historic distilleries. A key feature of the whisky is the inclusion of Brora whiskies from a Highland distillery that reopened in 2021 after nearly 40 years of closure.
At GBP 1,100 (approx. USD 1,500) per bottle, Johnnie Walker Vault brings together whiskies from various periods in the history of Scotch whisky production. It's not a limited-edition release in the traditional sense, it's designed to be a permanent part of the Johnnie Walker range. So what exactly is it, what does it taste like, and where can you buy it?

Johnnie Walker Vault is a luxury blended Scotch whisky created by Dr. Emma Walker, Master Blender at Johnnie Walker. The expression is named after the Johnnie Walker Vault, a private blending atelier located beneath the Johnnie Walker Experience in Edinburgh. The vault contains a rotating selection of around 500 rare and ghost whiskies drawn from Diageo's vast Scotch whisky reserves.
Unlike standard whisky releases, the Johnnie Walker Vault is all about combining whiskies from both currently operating distilleries and those that have been closed. It's a true embodiment of the Johnnie Walker philosophy of blending different styles, ages, and characteristics into one expression. The new release is also the first permanent prestige whisky to be launched under the Johnnie Walker Vault platform, which itself was launched in March 2025.
One of the most interesting things about the Johnnie Walker Vault is that it contains two whiskies from Brora. Brora is a historic Highland distillery that closed in 1983 and then reopened in 2021. The blend includes very old Brora whisky made prior to the distillery’s closure, along with some younger whisky made there since it reopened. Diageo confirms this is the first time whisky from the reopened Brora distillery has been blended with the old stocks.
The blend also contains whiskies from Clynelish, Cardhu, and Port Dundas. Clynelish brings a silky character, Cardhu adds some fruit, and Port Dundas, a closed grain distillery that provides another link to the history of Scotch whisky production in Scotland. It's a blend of older stock and spirits from the modern era of Scotch whisky.

As per Diageo's official tasting notes, Johnnie Walker Vault has aromas of butterscotch and salted caramel with fragrant barley, wildflowers and toasted oak. There's a very subtle smoky note present as well.
On the palate, it's vanilla, chopped almonds, Scottish raspberries, and tropical fruit. There's a touch of incense, flavors of charred oak, and malty sweetness, with some vintage leather and tobacco. The finish is apricot, sweet raspberry, crème anglaise, and warming spices. Johnnie Walker Vault is 43.8% ABV.

Johnnie Walker Vault has been launched at a recommended retail price of GBP 1,100 (approx. USD 1,500) per bottle. It's a luxury Scotch whisky. The expression comes in a distinctive cube-shaped bottle, which is a tribute to the classic Johnnie Walker Blue Label bottle of old.
As announced on October 14, 2026, the whisky is initially available through three exclusive retail channels: Harrods in London, the Johnnie Walker Experience in Edinburgh, and online via Justerini & Brooks. There is no announcement yet of an India launch, an Indian price, or a wider international rollout.

The launch is an evolution of the Johnnie Walker Vault platform, introduced in March 2025, which focuses on rare whiskies, personalization, and luxury collaborations. The Vault previously worked with French fashion designer Olivier Rousteing, Creative Director of Balmain to produce a range of couture-inspired whiskies.
The new release is different in that it's a permanent expression rather than another limited-edition range. In 2017, Diageo announced a GBP 35 million investment to bring Brora and Port Ellen back to life. Brora reopened in 2021, so the Vault contains both pre-closure and newly produced Brora.

Johnnie Walker Vault is a new addition to the Johnnie Walker luxury whisky range and brings together rare whiskies from some of Scotland's historic and still-active distilleries. It's a blend of pre-closure and newly produced Brora whiskies which sets it apart from the more standard releases. The 43.8% ABV and the layered character of the whisky are a true reflection of the blending philosophy behind the expression.
With a GBP 1,100 price point and initial availability restricted to select UK retailers and online channels, Johnnie Walker Vault enters the premium Scotch whisky market. While there is no confirmation of availability in India at this time, the launch represents another step in Johnnie Walker's progression into the world of luxury whisky experiences.
