This is actually the second James Bond-themed whisky from Macallan. The first was a collection of six bottles that were released in 2022. The whisky was distilled in 2007 (James Bond 007), it is aged for 18 years, and bottled at 45.5% ABV.

Created by The Macallan Whisky Maker Russell Greig, the maturation process has the most impact on the flavor. While most of the spirit was aged in the Macallan’s usual sherry-seasoned oak casks, some of it was also matured in hybrid casks. These casks were made from sherry-seasoned European and American oak staves. Also, some of it was aged in barrels that actually held red wine previously.
This whisky offers aromas of oak, vanilla, and dried fruits. On the palate, it offers creamy vanilla flavor that slowly meets caramel, chocolate truffles with cocoa dust, coffee hints, berries, and spice. All these flavors together lead to a lingering, elegant finish. The sherry-seasoned oak continues to play a dominant role on the palate, but there is a nice burst of fresh berries that brings a shift in the taste.

The brand says that the whisky’s color is meant to remind the desert around Las Vegas, where the movie Diamonds are Forever was set. The outer box shows some rare production art pages from Bond archives. It maintains the archival style for authenticity and continuity.
The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release can be bought for $750. It is available for sale from February 3, 2026, at the distillery’s website and at the Macallan Estate Boutique. It will also be released at select U.S. retailers from the month of March.
